Taking up temporary residence in the car park at Bramley Baths, ‘Aria’ By Emma Critchley has become part of the extraordinary community to be found in the area. Bramley Baths has been run by the people for the people since 2013, and everyone is extremely proud of what has been achieved.
Since the Open Day on Saturday 29 March 2014, the installation has been visited by 150 people – who have been very generous with their reflections as they exit the shipping container which houses the audio visual installation. They have come to see what’s going on, towels around head, still damp from a swim or taken a few moments to visit before rushing off to a Zumba class.
Chatting outside the container has been delightful and we have talked about people’s life history, their first swimming experiences, what they think about living in Leeds and of course how people feel about Bramley and the Baths themselves.
‘A few quiet moments in a hectic world’
If you would like the chance to experience ‘Aria’ yourself – we will be open from 08.30 am until 12.00 noon and 15.30 to 20.00 on Wednesday 2 April.
